The Chicago Fire have signed Texas-born winger Johan Gomez from German club Eintracht Braunschweig, adding an experienced young attacker as the club continues to reshape its roster.

Gomez returns to the American soccer system

Gomez, 25, has played extensively in Germany and arrives with experience across multiple professional environments. Reuters reported that he made 99 appearances for Braunschweig, recording four goals and nine assists.

His background also includes North Texas SC, FC Porto B and FSV Zwickau. That range of experience gives Chicago a player familiar with different tactical systems and the demands of professional football.

The Fire signed Gomez through the 2028-29 season with a club option for 2029-30. The contract provides the organization with several seasons to evaluate his development and contribution.
