User Content Policy

Hudson Tribune ("we," "us," "our," or "Hudson Tribune") welcomes reader engagement through comments and news tip submissions on https://hudsontribune.com/ (the "Site"). This User Content Policy explains the rules governing content submitted by users, including article comments and news tips, and applies alongside our Terms of Use and Privacy Policy.

1. Types of User Content

This policy applies to two main categories of user-submitted content on the Site:

  • Comments: Content submitted by readers in response to articles published on our Newsroom.
  • News Tips: Information, leads, or story suggestions submitted by readers through our Submit a News Tip form.

2. Comment Guidelines

When posting a comment on the Site, you agree not to submit content that:

  • Is defamatory, libelous, threatening, harassing, abusive, or hateful;
  • Contains discriminatory language based on race, ethnicity, religion, gender, sexual orientation, disability, or other protected characteristics;

  • Contains spam, advertising, solicitations, or unrelated promotional content;

  • Impersonates any person or entity or misrepresents your affiliation with someone;
  • Contains knowingly false statements of fact presented as true.

3. Comment Moderation

We reserve the right, but are not obligated, to monitor, review, edit, or remove any comment at our sole discretion, with or without notice, for any reason, including violation of this policy. We may also suspend or revoke a user's ability to comment on the Site for repeated or serious violations. Comments do not represent the views, opinions, or endorsement of Hudson Tribune and are the sole responsibility of the individual who posted them.

4. News Tip Submissions

When submitting a news tip through our News Tip form, please provide as much accurate and specific detail as possible, including relevant dates, locations, names, and supporting documentation if available. Submitting a tip does not guarantee that Hudson Tribune will investigate or publish a story based on it.

All news tips are independently reviewed and, where appropriate, verified by our editorial team in accordance with our Editorial Policy before being used as the basis for any published story. Information regarding the confidentiality of news tip sources is addressed in our Privacy Policy.

5. License to Use Submitted Content

By submitting a comment or news tip, you grant Hudson Tribune a non-exclusive, royalty-free, worldwide, perpetual license to use, reproduce, publish, display, and, where relevant to news tips, investigate and report on the substance of the information you provide, in connection with our editorial and Site operations. For comments specifically, this license extends to displaying your comment publicly on the relevant article page.

6. No Expectation of Publication or Response

Submitting a comment or a news tip does not obligate Hudson Tribune to publish, respond to, act upon, or investigate your submission. We evaluate all submissions based on editorial judgment, newsworthiness, and available resources.

7. Accountability for Your Content

You are solely responsible for any content you submit to the Site. You agree not to submit any content that you do not have the right to submit, or that would violate the rights of any third party. Hudson Tribune is not responsible for user-submitted content and does not pre-screen all comments before they are posted, though we reserve moderation rights as described in Section 3.

8. Reporting Inappropriate Content

If you come across a comment or other user-submitted content that you believe violates this policy, please report it to us using the contact information below, including a description and, where possible, a link to the content in question.

9. Minors

The Site is not directed at children under the age of 13, and we ask that users under 13 do not submit comments, news tips, or other content through the Site. See our Privacy Policy for more on children's privacy.

10. Changes to This Policy

We may update this User Content Policy from time to time. The "Last Updated" date at the top of this page reflects the most recent revision. Continued use of our comment or news tip features after changes are posted constitutes acceptance of the revised policy.
