A former U.S. Military Academy at West Point cadet is facing a civil lawsuit after admitting in federal court that he secretly drugged his pregnant girlfriend and administered abortion medication without her consent. The case has drawn renewed attention following the woman’s decision to seek damages over an incident that occurred in 2022. The plaintiff, identified as Jane Doe in court documents, filed the lawsuit against Caleb T. Suh on October 28, 2026, in New York Supreme Court. She accuses him of assault and battery and is seeking compensatory and punitive damages.

Former West Point Cadet Lawsuit Details 2022 Incident

According to the lawsuit and statements made during Suh’s criminal proceedings, the couple were both attending West Point when the woman discovered she was pregnant in January 2022. She allegedly told Suh that she wanted to continue the pregnancy, despite his repeated pressure to have an abortion. The complaint states that on February 4, 2022, Suh brought her a drink presented as a pregnancy protein shake. After consuming it, she became seriously ill and repeatedly lost consciousness. Suh later admitted obtaining abortion medication through an online pharmacy account created using his girlfriend’s identity. He also acknowledged obtaining Xanax to sedate her before administering the medication without her knowledge. The woman subsequently experienced severe bleeding and was taken to a hospital, where doctors confirmed a miscarriage. She reported the incident to the Army Criminal Investigation Division in May 2022.

Criminal Case and University Enrolment Draw Attention

On June 30, 2026, Suh pleaded guilty in federal court to assault resulting in substantial bodily injury to a dating partner. He acknowledged that the medication he administered without consent caused the miscarriage. After leaving West Point, Suh transferred to Cornell University, graduating in May 2026. He subsequently began a master’s programme at Columbia University’s Mailman School of Public Health in September. According to Associated Press reporting, Columbia’s awareness of the criminal case and Suh’s current academic status became subjects of scrutiny following the lawsuit.

His federal sentencing was postponed until January 2027 after his attorney requested additional time, partly to allow him to complete the academic semester. Prosecutors did not oppose the request. The civil proceedings are separate from the federal criminal case. Jane Doe is seeking financial compensation for the alleged assault and its lasting consequences. Her attorneys have said they intend to pursue the case. The outcome of the civil lawsuit and the eventual criminal sentence remain pending.
